tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14852171.post5969502953247166701..comments2023-11-02T04:23:00.400-06:00Comments on Cyclelicious: Happy Bike To Work DayYokota Fritzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04808661100114872654noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14852171.post-22928595171516462192008-05-15T12:45:00.000-06:002008-05-15T12:45:00.000-06:00...it's both a good & interesting situation that "......it's both a good & interesting situation that "bike to work day" draws as much mainstream media coverage as it does...there's a basic ramping up of energy for the whole week culminating in this "special day"...<BR/>...but the unfortunate part is that it's only seen as a newsworthy "once a year event" rather than being recognized as the mainstay transportation method of so many people...<BR/>...one of the main points, we as cyclist's agree on, is that education is a huge factor in making our roads safe for all forms of cycling...i firmly believe the media is a huge untapped source that could be utilized for that means on a daily basis...but it seems we're really only newsworthy once a year other than when there are deaths or major confrontations (ie: critical mess)...<BR/>...it's rather a shame that the media's "responsibility" doesn't extend further than simply being "event recorders"...they could go a long way towards creating safer communities...<BR/><BR/>...anyway, just a thought & i tip my cycling cap to people like fritz & so many of you who regularly cycle-commute...i do what i can, when i can but there are plenty of extremely dedicated folks who deserve good praise & recognition...bikesgonewildhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01489983012589939600noreply@blogger.com
