Colnago: Made in Taiwan

Italophiles are all aflutter over this news that Colnago outsources their Carbon frame production to Giant Manufacturing in Taiwan. According to the press release, Giant also builds CF frames for Specialized and Trek.

I thought my jet black OCR 2 was too stylish and mod to be a giant... now I know why. I suppose I shouldn't be shocked. After all, the Chinese invented spaghetti, and the Americans invented pizza, and much of the Roman army was comprised of Germans. The Italians have a long history of outsourcing.

Next stunning revelation: high end Campy cranksets are actually just Shimano Dura Ace parts, heavily chromed and polished by the Orange County Choppers guys.

But it will break my hear if I find out that Ducati's desmo engines are actually made by Honda...
