Civia Hyland commuter bicycle

I spotted the Civia Hyland at Palo Alto Bicycles this last week.

Civia at Palo Alto Bicycles

I was in a hurry so I didn't get details like the specific component group used on this bike, but the Hyland is available built up with Shimano Alfine, Rohloff 14 speed, or Shimano XT component groups. All builds use Shimano Alfine hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano Alfine dynamo front hub and Shimano lights. Other features of the Civia Hyland as a complete bike are aluminum fenders and rack, Panaracer T-Serv 700x28 tires with reflective sidewall, carbon front fork, and a "bash guard" style chain guard. The sliding dropout was designed specifically with a post disc brake mount to permit installation of a rear rack without brake caliper interference (which I personally appreciate because of experience with this).

Tim Grahl of Commute By Bike is at QBP's dealer and supplier show in Minneapolis right now. He says that Civia told him that the Civia will begin shipping in March, so I guess Palo Alto Bicycles is "special" or something.

That's a very nice looking bike.

As we've pointed out on the commute by bike post, this bike is not for sale and is one of just four in existence. The shop will be carrying the Civia brand once they are released in a couple weeks.
