Colorado bicycle restriction: Editorials and Action

  • The Denver Post editorial by sports writer Reggie Rivers criticizes the Colorado State Patrol's heavy-handed approach to "safety."
  • Just the facts in this Velonews article.
  • You really need to read this one: Pat O'Grady dissects the issue in his Friday Foaming Rant.
You ever try to drive past Invesco Field when the Broncos are playing a home game? Better have a full tank of gas and a strong heart. But I don't see the Denver cops capping the number of people who can drive to and park at the stadium at 2500 in the name of "safety."

‘Fess up, guys. Which one of you flipped [CSP Chief] Trostel the bird when he honked at you while you rode three abreast on some shoulderless Douglas County two-laner?
I sent letters to my state representatives, Senator Brandon Shaffer and Representative Jack Pommer. Pommer is chairman of the House Transportation Committee and has always been a friend to cyclists.

Shaffer is an SUV-driving fat man and the freshman Senator for my district. He's told me he likes paths, but otherwise his position on road cycling is unknown to me so we'll see what kind of support we get from him.
