Die Fahrrad ist das Opium des Volkes

I'm clinging to my my bicycle, and occasionally even expressing my antipathy to motorists.

That is all. BUSY week for me, so expect a dearth of postings.

...well, my, my, my, we should all cling to our bicycles...

...& marx was german, so do we attribute that quote to karl or maybe groucho ???...

sorry the the citation is wrong- they say it was weaker like "religion is used as Opium by people" which may be true if we look at some imams...

...the original quote is thus..."religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation...it is the opium of the people...
...the abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness"...

...i believe i've seen fritz's german quote by some wag paraphrasing marx & i believe it actually was from that same time period when more people relied on bikes for transportation...

I think it was Fritz von Marxoner, wasn't it?

...jahwol ???...das ist fritz von marxoner, ya ???...za man ist der chenius in zat case, mein gott !!!...

(w/ apologies to anyone who...yadada, yadada, yadada)...

...maybe i imagined that quote myself before, which would mean that great minds think alike, fritz or...fools seldom differ...

i'm jealous fritz -- my crash last week has left me on foot rather than in my proper state astride a bike. riding caltrain in the passenger cars feels totally wrong.

bike commuting is truly a blessing -- bereficial for physical, mental, and spiritual health. ride carefully so that you may ride whenever you want.

ps. Fahrrad is a neuter noun, so it would be "das Fahrrad". or "die Fahrräder" for bicycles
