Bus drivers I know talk about "catching a door" - though usually the bus is barely scratched. Legend tells of a mythical bus driver in Los Angeles who paints little doors on his bus, kind of like enemy kills on a fighter jet plane.
- California Vehicle Code Division 11, Chapter 9, Section 22517: No person shall open the door of a vehicle on the side available to moving traffic unless it is reasonably safe to do so and can be done without interfering with the movement of such traffic, nor shall any person leave a door open upon the side of a vehicle available to moving traffic for a period of time longer than necessary to load or unload passengers.

It's important for cyclists to be always aware, too. Don't ride so close as to be in the reach of a door. Don't rely on drivers to watch for you. They won't.
FWIW, my dad tells me a story of getting doored many, many years ago. He warned me of it. I never forget.
I love how the subject unceremoniously blows that stop sign half way through. Adds to the realism. :P
