Local news about more bikes

TV stations WHAS11 reports on increased bike sales in Louisville, Kentucky. Increased sales are up at a local bike shop. "The sign in front of Scheller’s Fitness and Cycling in Louisville does the math for you: The average annual fuel cost for a Honda Accord is $928. For a Trek bike, not one penny."

KWWL also notes increased in bike riding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
James McInroy rides his bike most everyday. He bought it two months ago and says it was worth the investment. He says it's great for exercise and to run some errands. "Once in a while to the grocery store to pick up a few items, saves a little gas money."

McInroy says the trails are pretty quiet on the weekdays, but on the weekends they've definitely gotten busier. "With gasoline prices, I think maybe a lot of people will be riding bikes."

Bike sales and usage are up accoridng to Derek Stepanek of Northtowne Cycling and Fitness. "We've had folks that are new to cycling that have stated they are going to use bicycles to commute daily to work, or at least on nice days."
