After selling the Davis Sewing Machine Company, Horace Huffman formed Huffman Manufacturing in Dayton, Ohio in 1925. After World War II, his "Huffy" bikes become a household name as it grew into one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world.Huffman didn't just build and sell bikes, however. He provided inspiration, guidance and funding for local and national cycling advocacy groups, including the Miami Valley Bicycling Coalition, the Dayton Cycling Club, the Ohio Bicycle Federation, the Bicycle Federation of America, and Bikecentennial (now Adventure Cycling).
