Cyclists' guide to firearms

"Long guns like the SKS assault rifle or a combat shotgun would have a deterent effect when slung across the back. But they'd be cumbersome to use one-handed since a cyclist would have to keep one hand on the handlebar."
He assures me he's joking, but read CycleDog if you're interested in knowing more.

Personally I carry a Glock 17 legally. My trouble is finding a real way to hide the gun on the bike and still have it accessable.
Frame bags have openings on the wrong side. Saddle bags and panniers are awkward at best to reach into when moving. Been thinking about a handle bar bag, but they are in the way and most seem to be meant to be opened from in front of the bike.
Any one here have a real suggestion? The only "on the body" option would be a fanny pack.

One more thing, I have practiced drawing and shooting from the back of the bike. It's awkward, but a skill worth practicing if you ever need it.
