Hipp used to go on club rides with a very young Lance Armstrong in Texas in the 80s. In the late 90s, he pioneered high density computing with blade computers (the world I live in these days), moved to Silicon Valley, sold his company to HP and became an industry analyst.
I took the long way home on my bike Tuesday evening in his memory.

I worked with Chris at RLX. I'm completely stunned and deeply saddened by his passing. Chris was not only incredible human being, but an amazing visionary who predicted a whole new era in computing. I continued to keep in touch with Chris and just exchanged e-mails with him two weeks ago. I know that he will be sorely missed by his friends, family, the IT industry and the broader cycling community. Vince Balsamo
