Happy Friday

Actually a hot issue popped up at work and there's a good chance I'll be working over the weekend, but I'll try to get some riding in over the weekend. In the meantime, here's a quick collection of news and tidbits for you. Over and out! Have a good one.

that book reminded me of this one i saw while in Book People in Austin:

http://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-History-David-V-Herlihy/dp/0300104189

i didn't read it, but i'd give it a hearty 'thumbs up' nonetheless. it looked awesome.

Cars the new cigarettes. Motorized vehicles too should come with a warning label. Every year drivers should sign a statement:

"As the licensed owner of this vehicle, I'm fully aware that driving such causes air pollution, noise, traffic and increases the likelihood of injuries to others, possibly death and property destruction. In addition, many of the dollars spent to propel this vehicle will be used by terrorist organizations with stated desires to inflict harm and possibly death to my fellow citizens and family members."

After this maybe we can have a sincere vote for Complete Streets on the federal level.

Herlihy's book starts with the Draisine. I laughed MAO at they way Draisine riders were harassed and insulted by the rest of the citizens. It must be something about two-wheeled transport...

Thanks for pointing to that. I thought I had seen a review somewhere but didn't remember where off hand.
